Ya Maka My Weekend turns 28 years old this year! Ya Maka My Weekend was the very first festival held in The District and started in 1992. Since that time, the event has been constantly evolving. You’ll still find the same great reggae music and Caribbean food with a fun different twist each year.

Tickets: $10 / $5 after 10:30 p.m.

Indika Reggae Band
Six time winner Best Reggae Band by the Martin International Music Awards. 
Strong and Addictive Music This is what Indika Reggae Band brings to their fans in every show. The band is proud to back U-Roy Mushla one of the Mid-west best Reggae vocalists. Giving their audience a full spectrum of Reggae flavor in the style of Jamaica’s Reggae Sunsplash. The Indika Reggae Band itself has won several music awards in the Windy City. In addition to their own high energy shows, they have also been honored to back international Reggae artists such as Jr Marvin, Sister Carol, Dennis Brown, Frankie Paul, Sugar Minott and U Roy. Between them they have over 145+ years of experience playing Reggae, Calypso and Soca music. The Members of Indika developed their talents in Jamaica & Belize giving them a authentic sound.

They perform old Reggae favorites with new life, and add to the Reggae world with new original songs.

Karl "Kofi" James
Kofi hails from Dominica the “Nature Isle” of the Caribbean and is one of the original founding members of Roots Stem & Branches. Between 1983 and 2000 RSB released 10 albums that feature reggae, soca and zouk the native music of Dominica. RSB toured extensively playing in Canada, England and throughout the U.S. and Caribbean Islands. Since settling in Chicago in 2003 Kofi has performed throughout the Chicago area and the Midwest. In recent years he has devoted his music writing and performance skills to the genre he is most passionate about Roots Reggae. Kofi dazzles audiences with his joyful, energetic style and his conscious lyrics about serious issues. His performances uplift people and encourage the celebration of life.
